What’s good everybody? I hope everyones spring break is going good, and if yours is already over, I hope you’re still alive.
There’s been a lot going on lately in the music industry, especially the hip-hop scene (Midwest stand up!), but today is a day where we should all sit back for a minute and remember an icon.
It’s been 13 years since Notorious B.I.G. was tragically gunned down, and it’s important to understand how significant both his life and death were for the hip-hop community. If you’re like me you’d say that Biggie is arguably the best rapper of all time, but that’s always open to debate.
Personally, this is my favorite track by Biggie, but he put out so much great music I could blog about him for days.
Although it is sad that Biggie isn’t with us anymore, today we should celebrate his life instead of mourning.
I hate to be so monotonous with the blogs about music, but I’m really impressed by an up and coming artist outta New Orleans known as Jay Electronica.
Jay Elect has some serious beats and I like the fact that he uses traditional instruments in his music (percussion, piano, etc.), something you aren’t seeing a lot of these days.
The track below is titled Exhibit A and has a sequeltitled Exhibit C
What I’m really excited for is Jay’s upcoming collab/super-group with Curren$y and Mos Def named Center Edge Territory, who will be working with more artists like The Mars Volta. Can you say pushing the envelope?
Hope ya’ll enjoy, and I’m sure this won’t be the last time you hear Jay’s music.

It’s 12:42 am right now, and I’m blowing off my econ homework right now, because I had to get this off my chest.
I’ve always been one to f^%k with the underground rap scene, and I’ve been listening to R.A. the Rugged Man for a couple years now. He certainly isn’t the most well known rapper in the game right now but he can hold his own.
If you check out his Wikipedia page you’ll find out some pretty interesting stuff about this man, as well as the fact that he’s been associated with some pretty heavy players in industry.
Here you go: R.A. the Rugged Man – “Chains”
Not only can he spit, but R.A. has some pretty interesting insight to the game as a whole, and when it comes down to it the man’s got nothing but respect. This street interview I found on YouTube is pretty interesting.
Maybe R.A. is a little too gritty for some, but I co-sign this man.

First and foremost I gotta congratulate SpencO on his blogging business. I SEE YOU SON!
As usual Nike is bringin the heat, and with a little retro flavor as well. When Nike re-released the Air Max Griffey 1 I don’t think they realized how much buzz it was going to create, then again it is Nike. Anyway, they’re dropping a gray version of the shoe on the 20th of this month exclusively at FootLocker and here’s a couple photos.

As an avid fan of rap/hip hop, I have been involved in the same argument over and over: who is the greatest rapper of all time? To pay respect to so many all-time greats, I have to say there is no clear-cut winner. However, Eminem has to be considered the G.O.A.T. He has been doin his thing in the rap game for nearly 20 years and was HAND PICKED by the legend himself, Dr. Dre. Here is just a sample of the man’s track record: he stole the show from Biggie on “Dead Wrong,”murdered Jay on “Renegade”, and most recently he spit on the track “Forever” with three of the hottest and most relevant rappers in the game today (Wayne, Kanye and Drake) and shut shit down. Who else does he need to run through? The main reason I wrote this blog is because so many people don’t give Em the respect he deserves. So STOP sleeping on Marshall!
Em- “Sleep on me, that pillow is where your head will lie- Permanently, b*tch, it’s beddy bye!”

With Lil Wayne heading to prison soon, I’m curious to see how the rest of Young Money will manage without him. With a multitude of young and talented artists such as Drake, Nikki Minaj, Tyga and Lil Twist, the label has a bright and lucrative future. Possibly alluding to the fact that Wayne will be M.I.A. due to his charges, the Young Money crew dropped a song titled “Where’s Wayne,” hinting that the group will remain relevant without their leader. This could even prove to be Drake’s chance to step out of Wayne’s shadow and emerge as a superstar. But realistically, none of this may even matter. With Wayne’s relentless work ethic, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has enough music recorded to feed his fiend-like fans even when he is locked up. Only time will tell. Yessir.
DRAKE- “The first thing I’ma do is free Weezy….GO!”

What’s good world? I hope everything is going good for all of you students out there, and for all the non-students keep gettin’ that paper.
If any of you follow Curren$y on twitter (@CurrenSy_Spitta) then you know that he’s been working on his newest mixtape Smokee Robinson for a minute. Well the time has come for the release, and it’s safe to say that it’s been worth the wait.

Big Sean dropped this Lemonade freestyle last week and I had to listen to it 3 times in a row because he goes so hard. His delivery continues to grow and improve and his punchlines are too nasty.
Enjoy.
Also, pictures from last week’s Chip Tha Rip show will be up this weekend. BIG shout out to Big Sean and Finally Famous for coming through! Place was #POPPIN
